Hot pink with black glitter

Hey girls!

The weather has been unbelievably hot here! It’s sunny and about 28-30 degrees Celsius! Because of this I wanted a very summer-like manicure. Neons are really popular this summer so I decided to try Rimmel – Hot shot: a great, in-your-face hot pink. It’s not technically a neon but it is really bright. I never really wear bright pink nail polish but I love the way it looks. I wanted to spice it up a little so I topped it with Nubar – Black polka dot, which is my favourite black glitter! I got this during my crusade to get something similar to Connect the Dots by Lynnderlla and I absolutely love it!

Do you like bright coloured nail polish?

Peachy Leopard nails

Hey girls!

Today I’m wearing leopard print nails. I love leopard print but I do like to pair it with bright colours instead of using traditional brown, black and gold. I don’t like how that looks on me, maybe that is because my skin is very fair? Today I used peach and black and added some rhinestones for some extra bling!  I painted my thumb, middle and pinky nails with Barry M – Peach Melba and painted my index and ring finger with Essie – Licorice. Then I used to opposite colour to paint some leopard spots on them. I used Konad  M57 for the spots but Peach Melba was too sheer so I painted spots on the index fingers with a dotting tool.

Which colours do you like to use when you wear a leopard manicure?

Purple stars mani: Barry M - Indigo and Nicole by OPI - Let's get star-ted!

Hey girls!

How are you doing? Today I’m showing you two polishes I bought in London. First I painted my nails with Barry M – Indigo. It really is just a perfect indigo: both purple and blue. This is a notoriously difficult colour to photograph and my camera made it look a lot more blue than it actually is. I tried photographing it in different lights but it didn’t work unfortunately.  I topped Indigo with two coats of Nicole by OPI – Let’s get star-ted! which is a clear base filled with purple stars and glitter. The glitter shows orange, yellow, green and blue mostly. The stars were actually not that hard to get out of the bottle, I think there is a lot more star glitter in this than in Silver star by Kleancolor.

I really like this combination. What do you think?

Pastel rainbow gradient nails

Hey girls,

Yesterday I decided to finally try gradient nails. I've seen hundreds of girls wear these and their nails look stunning! This is my first time so it is far from perfect. I wanted to a very light, girly gradient so I decided to do a pastel rainbow. I have seen this somewhere before but I can't remember the blog.

So this is how I did it: I started off painting all my nails with 2 coats of white ( Essie - Blanc ), added a layer of topcoat and waited for my nails to be completely dry. Then I used a cosmetic sponge and painted all the colours directly onto it. There is no need to blend the colours because you are going to stamp several layers which will blend it anyway. So I started stamping it onto my nails as many times until I was satisfied with the result, reapplying the polish on the sponge every now and then. I wanted to colours to be really soft so I didn't sponge too many layers. When you're done, you have to clean up all around your nails which takes quite a long time. I heard that if you carefully apply some Vaseline around your cuticle, it should be easier to remove so I might try that next time. After cleaning up I finished this manicure with a soft glitter polish. The colours I used where:

China Glaze - Something sweet ( pink )
Models Own - Lemon Meringue ( yellow )
China Glaze -  Re-fresh mint ( green )
Barry M - Blue Moon ( blue )
China Glaze - Light as air ( light purple )
China Glaze - Fairy Dust ( glitter )

The sponge after using it

I really like the outcome! Have you tried gradient nails?

London calling! ( I'm back + UK haul )

I’m back :D I lived in London for the last 2 months. I had to go on a foreign traineeship and I had a wonderful time there! I didn’t want to post it on the blog because you never know what people do with certain information... Anyway I did LOADS of things there and even though I painted my nails, I wasn’t able to take pictures for you guys :( I stayed with a host family and I just didn’t have the right light to paint my nails neatly or take good pictures. I took two ugly pictures of my nails and I’m just going to show you them anyway!

This one I wore during the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. I participated in the festivities, regardless of the horrible weather! I used

Essie – Mezmerised
Essie – Blanc
Chanel – April
Kleancolor – Silver star

Thumb: Marauder's map, Index: Golden Snitch, Middle: Logo, Ring: Gryffindor sweater, Pinky: Lightning bolt

This one needs some explaining. On my last weekend in London I met up with one of my classmates and we visited the ACTUAL HARRY POTTER STUDIOS. Sorry, I get really excited when I talk about it :D It is really hard to get tickets, we got the last ones for one of the weekends during our stay and we booked months before! So it’s basically the actual place where the films were filmed and you can see the actual sets and the actual clothes and props. I grew up with Harry Potter, I was started reading when I was eleven so I was always about the same age as the characters in either the books or the films. I can’t express how much I love the story, even today, so this was really a dream come true for me. I even got to “fly” on one of the actual Firebolts in front of a green screen while watching myself fly around Hogwarts on a TV screen! So obviously, my nails needed to match the occasion! I looked at a lot of other Harry Potter manicures and copied ideas from them, so I didn’t come up with them myself. The polishes I used are:

Essie – Blanc
Essie – Liquorice
China Glaze – 2230
Chanel – April

I didn’t bring a brown and grey polish so I mixed gold and black for the brown footsteps and black and white for the sweater.

AND I didn’t come back empty handed of course! Here are the polishes I bought there:
